First American CEO, William Verhelle, was the 2008 Chairman of the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association (ELFA). The ELFA is the premier trade organization for the $650 billion equipment finance sector. The organization has over 700 member companies, including the nation's largest independent equipment leasing companies, captive equipment leasing companies, and commercial banks. First American Equipment Finance has been a member of the ELFA since 1996.
William Verhelle addressed ELFA membership in the 2008 Report of ELFA Chairman. The letter, which began the organization's annual report, discussed the unprecedented changes taking place in the U.S. equipment finance market. It also addressed the importance of trade associations during periods of transition, the current mission of the ELFA, and future initiatives of the organization.
Each month, First American Equipment Finance participates in the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association’s (ELFA) Monthly Leasing and Finance Index (MLFI-25).
The MLFI-25 provides metrics reflecting monthly commercial equipment lease and loan activity as reported by participating ELFA member companies representing a cross section of the equipment finance sector. Based on survey data, the responses reflect the economic activity of the wider equipment finance sector, which contributes to the representation of current business conditions nationwide.
