All different.

All equal.

All together.

The key to a great workplace is creating an environment where everyone feels free to be uniquely themselves—but at the same time, feels a sense of belonging in the group.

Our most valuable asset is our people. We believe in creating an equitable, inclusive culture where all colleagues thrive. We’re committed to becoming a company that reflects the diversity of the Greater Rochester Region, where our headquarters are located.

With unwavering support for our executive team, a passionate colleague-led DEI team, and a workforce where every employee believes it’s their responsibility to drive positive change, we’re highly motivated to achieve our goals.

DEI Highlights

In 2022, First American retained outside counsel to help us undertake a comprehensive review of our pay equity status. We’re pleased to report that HR Works and Jackson Lewis determined that we offer equal pay for equal work.

Our employee resources groups (ERGs) are designed to create a space for colleagues to bond over shared experiences, create connections and feel a real sense of belonging. Our current ERGs, Building Belonging and Women in Business, help ensure that everyone at First American has a voice. The groups also provide leadership and professional development opportunities for members, and the opportunity to share thoughts and ideas with the executive team.

The passport program is designed to create deeper connections between co-workers. This 8-week program pairs participants with a different colleague match each week. Whether it’s taking a walk together or a virtual happy hour, participants are encouraged to spend time getting to know each other on a more personal level. To date, over 160 colleagues have participated in the program.
