Technology Transformation for Ithaca College
Ithaca College faced a challenge: invest in the most up-to-date technology for staff and students while managing the complexities of updating equipment. Many of the school’s departments held onto old technology for too long, leaving them with obsolete equipment that couldn’t be updated with new services and software. Yet, even those with a disciplined refresh cycle faced inconsistent installation schedules that burdened their IT staff. Ithaca understood the importance of addressing these challenges in a sustainable way, but needed a funding model aligned to their unique objectives.

Financing Brings Simplicity and Stability to IT Strategy
Ithaca College recognized that an IT refresh program would be an effective way to manage their need for the latest technology while maintaining efficiency for their IT operations. While initially wary about leasing due to the costly fees and complicated documentation often associated with it, their collaboration with First American addressed these concerns. Working together, Ithaca College and First American developed an IT financing program that provided a predictable schedule for campus-wide technology updates with favorable lease terms and a simple end-of-lease process.
A Future-Ready Tech Refresh Program
This new IT strategy set Ithaca College up for a more sustainable future and added stability to their overall technology environment. The program provided reliable access to the latest technologies, predictability with scheduling, and a seamless and responsible way to dispose outdated equipment. Since the program’s implementation in 2013, Ithaca has been able to refresh their technology on a consistent seasonal basis—placing minimal burden on their staff for installation while ensuring they have the latest technology across the institution.
