Preparing Students for a Digital Future

UMS-Wright Peparatory School is committed to positioning students for success in college and beyond. As higher education has shifted toward online platforms and technology-enhanced learning, the school recognized a growing need to provide students and faculty with modern devices and classroom tools on a routine basis.

The school was looking for a financing model that would keep technology current, reduce the burden of owning aging assets, and preserve cash for additional mission-driven projects.

"What they were trying to accomplish was to create a refresh strategy to keep up with the pace of technology."

– Phil Palermo, Relationship Manager, First American

"Prior to this device program, we didn't really lease anything, everything was a capital expense. So that was a shift in thinking and it has been extremely beneficial for us."

– Brent Daugherty, Director of Technology, UMS Wright

Creating Long-Term Stability and Impact

UMS-Wright worked with First American to establish a customized 36-month technology refresh program for all student and faculty devices. By transitioning to a rental-style structure, the school converted large capital purchases into predictable operating expenses which helped simplify planning and ensure devices could be refreshed every three years.

The success of the refresh program encouraged UMS-Wright to explore additional projects where financing could add value. The school implemented a lease-to-own structure for upgraded networking equipment to support increased digital learning demands. Later, when constructing a new cafeteria, UMS-Wright financed nearly $1 million in kitchen equipment, allowing the project to stay on track without delaying other priorities.

Across each initiative, First American focused on making the process simple, straightforward, and aligned with the school’s long-term goals.

Saying “Yes” to More with Financing

With a sustainable financing strategy in place, UMS-Wright has established a repeatable model that supports both academic excellence and campus growth. The school can now put new devices in all student and faculty hands every three years, helping ensure classrooms are consistently equipped with up-to-date technology. Predictable payments simplify long-term planning while freeing cash for other priorities across campus.

Most importantly, this model expands the school’s ability to say “yes” to initiatives that directly support student success. By aligning technology and facility planning with a flexible funding strategy, UMS-Wright is better positioned to deliver the future-ready learning environment their students deserve.

"First American helps us accomplish that by providing us with an avenue to put those tools in the kids’ hands so they can be educated to their fullest potential."

– Todd Morris, Finance Director, UMS Wright
