Without Reliable Federal Funding, Access to Capital is Crucial for a Community Health Center

Urban Health Plan is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) located in the South Bronx area of NY and funded mostly by Medicaid. Without Urban Health Plan’s facilities and services, the only alternative for its low-income patients in the community is a hospital Emergency Room. In order to expand and upgrade their facilities, Urban Health needed access to capital beyond their federal funding allocation, which typically is used for accounts payable and payroll needs.

Leasing Allows Urban Health Plan to Expand and Upgrade Facilities While Preserving Cash

First American worked with Urban Health Plan to implement a flexible Master Lease Program to accommodate their unique needs as an FQHC and allow them to preserve their federal funding for other initiatives. In addition to providing access to capital, First American’s Project Manager seamlessly managed the entire project’s multi-vendor, multi-location equipment upgrades.

“They were integral to our success; without a company like First American, we would not be able to offer all of the services that we provide.”

-– Paloma Hernandez, President and CEO, Urban Health Plan
