PM Perspective: Technology in Logistics & Distribution

1) How has the leasing and financing industry changed since you joined First American?

Our projects change as we support new initiatives for our clients. What I’ve noticed most is the parallels between people’s lifestyles and the Logistics and Distribution industry. Transportation, supply chains and fulfillment centers striving for carbon-neutral emissions evolved with consumer habits and government infrastructure shifts. I like to keep a pulse on our consumer lives to see the trajectory into our professional lives. It allows us to anticipate those changes for our clients and their businesses.

2) What is most notable about the sectors and assets you work with?

Our Logistics and Distribution clients must continuously refresh equipment to keep it up to date with industry requirements, including the latest carbon emission standards. While this constant change brings new challenges, it also brings positive momentum and efficiencies. The technological advances that emerged in response to COVID-19 will have a lasting positive impact. We saw clients refresh their approaches and re-evaluate their equipment priorities to meet customers’ demands, both in the moment and for the future.


3) What evolving trends are you watching over the next five years?

I am excited to see the influence that automation and artificial intelligence will have on the Logistics and Distribution industry in the next five years. As these capabilities continue to expand, clients can use these technologies to increase efficiencies in their business models and enhance their customer experience to gain a competitive advantage. Green initiatives and government incentives will also play a part in how this technology continues to develop.


4) How are your client support responsibilities evolving with those trends?

Being responsive to industry change is one of the most important aspects of First American’s service model to support our clients. Understanding that client needs are different, we strive to meeting those needs with unique customized solutions.


5) What is one valuable piece of feedback you have heard from clients?

I'm always hearing from clients an appreciation for First American's clear and consistent communication. The financing is just a small part of a larger project for many clients to expand on a new initiative. Our goal is to make sure clients are up to date and aware of the next steps to keep the financing and their initiatives moving forward.
