Desiree Chackal is Marketing Manager for First American's highly successful Professional Services division. She joined the company after she moved to Rochester, NY from Florida in 2016. She recently shared her insights about putting down roots in Rochester and growing her career.
Q: What is the best part about your job at First American?
A: The best part about my job is the creative freedom and responsibility. Not only am I encouraged to generate new and different ideas, I am expected to, which makes every day exciting, challenging, and unique. I also enjoy working alongside highly intelligent and driven people who inspire me daily and push me to my full potential.
Q: What would you say to someone considering a career at First American?
A: What I love about First American is the sense of family. Everyone genuinely cares about one another and about the company; we’re all working toward the same vision and supporting each other along the way. I recently moved to Rochester, so I’m grateful for the relationships and friendships I’ve made at First American that have helped me grow roots here.
Q: How do you define success in your career?
A: I always thought it would take years of “paying my dues” in the corporate world to find a job I loved at a workplace where I was valued. Finding First American so early on in my career means I no longer worry about that. I love my job, I’m accomplishing things I only dreamed about, and above all else I’m having fun and enjoying every moment of it.
Desiree manages the marketing strategy, branding, and content creation for the Professional Services division at First American Equipment Finance.
A proud University of Florida graduate, she holds a bachelor’s degree in English with minors in Linguistics and Communications.
Originally from West Palm Beach, FL, Desiree currently resides in Rochester, NY. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, hiking, cooking, and spending time with her friends and dog.
